The Desktop installer
The second installer file that PocketPC Installer creates is a self-extracting installer .exe file that you run on your PC. This .exe actually contains a copy of the PDA installer file (containing compressed copies of your PocketPC files) within it.
What does this mean ?
Well, it means that you only need to send someone this one .exe file to give them everything they need to deploy your set of .cab / other files on their device, from the comfort of their Desktop.

When they run it on their PC, it'll search for a device connected by ActiveSync, copy the installer files to their device, then start running the PDA installer (described on the previous page) on the device.
By creating both types of installer file, the PocketPC Installer an extremely powerful way of distributing your PocketPC / Windows Mobile programs, in very small and easy to run files.
Let's have a quick look at how you create an installer file using PocketPC Installer.
